Very aggressive fight from both opponents, Blundell taking Bell down to the ground several times, after the Ref stood fighters up, Bell finished the fight with a series of brutal strikes to Blundell’s face, causing a dangerous cut close to Blundell’s eye. After the doctor was called in to examine Blundell’s eye, he called a stop to the fight, making Matty Bell the winner via Doctor's Stoppage 2 minutes & 51 seconds into round one.
Fight 4 – Welterweight
Tim Midgley PUMMA Gold .C •VS• Shane Ryan – Brothers MMA S, Coast
Shane Ryan via Rear Naked Choke at 3min 09 sec into round # 2
Round # 1 – Was an awesome fight, starting off with exchange of jabs, with both guys getting full mount at different times. Midgley taking Ryan to the ground, but Ryan pulled himself up to come out better off in round one, landing several leg kicks, strikes & upper cuts, not without Midgley attempt a Guillotine on Ryan & finishing round # 1 with Ryan taking Midgley down in full mount.
Round # 2 - Ryan took Midgley down & had the Rear Naked Choke deep on a couple of occasions. Midgley had wonderful defense to hold out and avoid tapping out as long as he did. After several attempts from Ryan to pull the RNC, Midgley tapped out 3 minutes & 09 seconds into Round 2.
Massive heart by both guys had the crowd on their feet.
Fight 5 – Bantamweight
Ramzan Mahammed – Modern Warrior •VS• Alex Platts – DMA Coffs Harbour NSW
Alex Platts via Unanimous Decision
Round # 1 - The fight started with a fast pace straight after fighters touched gloves. Platts was very aggressive in round one taking Mahammed to the ground landing double hammer fists, Mahammed flipped Platts out of mount, striking back at Platts. Following a spinning back fist & knee to the body, round one ended with Platts coming out on top.
Round # 2 – Platts had his hands full with Ramzan. The only fight to go the distance and a wonderful debut fight for both guys, with a great exchange of strikes & submission attempts, Platts came out on top again – even though a right hook from Mahammed caused severe nose bleeding – Platts came back with knees of fury finishing round two to go to judges unanimous decision.
Fight 6 – Welterweight
Joshua Cimpa – Team Aztek Mackay QLD •VS• Matt Camp – Brothers A S, Coast QLD
Matt Camp via Ref stoppage at 21 sec into Round One
Camp looked absolutely psyched from the moment he hit the gantry. Cimpa threw a body kick, but Camp’s heavy hands got the better of Cimpa early in the fight and Ref Pete Hickmott did not believe there was an intelligent defense being provided and stopped the fight before too much damage could be sustained, resulting in Camp winning via Ref stoppage 21 seconds into round 1.
Fight 7 – Lightweight
Adam Watts – Wallaroo Ultimate Fitness SA •VS• Ethan Morris – DMA Coffs Harbour NSW
Ethan Morris via TKO at 4 min 27 sec into Round One
Fight started off great with even strike exchange between fighters, knees to the body & leg kicks. Watts took Morris down, with Morris controlling Watts in mount – Morris escaped through the back door. The fight was fairly even, with Morris being the more aggressive of the two and Watts showing good form and movement. With Morris throwing a big left cross at Watts, dropping him to the mat - prompting Ref Pete Hickmott to step in and stop the fight, resulting in Morris winning the fight by TKO at 4 minutes & 27 seconds into round 1.
Fight 8 – Lightweight
Aaron Voois – Team Aztek Mackay QLD •VS• Mitch Warner – Brothers MMA S Coast QLD
Mitch Warner via Ref Stoppage at 1 min 23 sec into Round One
The perfect ground & pound fight we all love to see, with Warner taking Voois down and finishing the fight with savage ground & pound – the Ref called at stop to the fight, resulting in Warner the winner at 1 minute 23 seconds into round one.
Fight 9 – Australian Bantamweight Title Fight
Sebastian Taylor – Byron Elite Byron Bay NSW •VS• Luke Morris – Diamond Martial Arts Coffs Harbour
Sebastian Taylor via Triangle Choke at 2 min 17 sec into round one.
Fight went to the ground almost immediately with Taylor working his way to a Triangle attempt early in the first minute of the fight. Morris was gallant in attempt to fend of the impending submission and showed tremendous heart. Taylor looked comfortable and relaxed (despite his youth at just 16 years old) and continued to work to tighten the triangle. Morris had no option but to tap out resulting in Taylor winning the title fight at 2 minutes & 17 second into round 1.
Both fighters are just in their teens & had our UFC Competitor Kyle Noke quoting that these guys were the future of Australian MMA.
Fight 10 – Australian Lightweight Title Fight
Chris Bridgewater - Modern Warrior Brisbane QLD •VS• Greg Atzori Integrated Martial Arts Hervey Bay QLD
Greg Atzori via Ref Stoppage at 3 minutes & 03 seconds into Round Two
Round # 1 – Both fighters gave their title shot the best efforts anyone could have imagined! Both fighters pushed the tempo as they got the fight started off with a decent exchange of jabs & leg kicks. With Atzori attempting an Arm bar submission, but Bridgewater slipped out of it, to stand up and finish round one with an epic slug fest!
Round # 2 - Bridgewater was taken to the ground early to start round two. With Atzori in a dominant ground position, Bridgewater struggled to find a good way to defend the barrage of punches that was coming his way.
Finally the fight was called to an end by Ref Pete Hickmott who could not see a way out for Bridgewater resulting in Atzori winning the Australian Lightweight Title at 3 minutes & 03 seconds into round 2.
All in all every fight had a bit of everything to please the crowd & demonstrate the abilities of these up & coming amateur MMA fighters! We’ll be looking forward to seeing these guys in many more bouts coming up with Underground Cage Fighting Series
Special mention to Kyle Noke for coming out to the fights to support his boys.
Thanks for your support.
